Thank you Pauline!19th February 2021
On behalf of Buckland Dinham Parish Council, and all in Buckland
Dinham, I would like to thank Pauline Short, on her retirement as Buckland Dinham Parish Clerk.
For 28 years she has provided unwavering support and great efforts to our Parish and to our Council. She has managed so well to ensure that we have been kept up to date with Mendip, Somerset and Government matters. Pauline is part of many village activities, which I am sure she will continue, but the Council will miss her. We wish her well for a happy and long retirement. Hopefully, there will be opportunities for us to thank her in person in the months ahead.
I would also like to welcome, and introduce to you, Gill Pettitt who is the new Parish Clerk from 1st February 2021. Again, I hope you will be able to meet her before long. The email address remains firstname.lastname@example.org.

Covid-19. On the 25th March the Parish Council consider ways to continue to help21st March 2020
The council is holding an Extraordinary Meeting at 7pm on Wednesday 25th March to discuss a business continuity plan to put in place necessary ways to enable essential council business to continue if meetings are not possible during the time of the Covid-19 pandemic. The agenda, with the current plan that is envisaged, is already available on “Meetings”. This will be a very short meeting as the plan has already been well discussed and considered and advice taken from our advisers but you are of course still entitled to be there to observe if you wish to. Obviously consider everyone’s safety first and do not attend if you are ill or suspect you have been in contact with Covid-19
Also don’t forget we are all want to help you if you need help and, particularly if you are self- isolating, there are people in the village who are more than willing to do that. If you don’t know who they are, contact email@example.com or talk to one of the parish councillors

Come and join us – A chance to help your village2nd December 2019
We need a new parish councillor to fill the very big space left by Peter Corbett who has recently retired! The village hasn’t requested the election offered so it is up to the 6 people, who would be your new “colleagues”, to find and appoint someone
How about you? Fancy doing something different? We wouldn’t expect you to fill all that big space left by Peter immediately! You would be taking the current great team back up to the seven that is essential. So, if you’re interested, get in touch with any of the other councillors – John Reckless, Alan King, Bob Tucker, Ian Blair, Jon Swift or Viv Street – or email me, with your address and numbers, to firstname.lastname@example.org. I will ask one of them to make contact and tell you the truth about it all. Do it soon please!
Resignation from the Council31st October 2019
Our Chair of the Council, Peter Corbett, has recently resigned from the council and will be greatly missed! Peter has been a councillor for around 30 years, always giving his time freely to help the village. Thank you Peter for all you have done for us in that long time!
Due to this resignation a bye-election will be held to fill the vacancy if 10 electors from the parish request one by giving notice in writing to the Returning Officer at Mendip within 14 working days of 31 October. If no such notice is given the remaining councillors will fill the vacancy by co-option. Click here to give you all the details needed to request an election

Notice of Road Closure in November 201822nd October 2018
See pdf document for formal notice of the road closure planned to start on 12 November. Please note that the alternative route shown on the map in the document has to be planned to be suitable for the largest vehicles normally using the A362. Small vehicles will have other options by using the minor roads we all know well.
This may be a temporary inconvenience but the work is badly needed to repair drainage at the bottom of the hill and, hopefully, rid us of the winter problems with ice there. We are assured that everyone will be able to access their homes
Hot weather waste collections start at 6am – see note from Somerset Waste Partnership24th July 2018

All you need to know about Faster Village Broadband10th November 2016
Notes from village meeting with Voneus, 9 November 2016, to discuss potential for bringing faster broadband to the village
These notes are not full minutes of the meeting but encompass facts provided about the proposed new system
Voneus (www.voneus.com) and overview of service to be provided
Company established in 2011 and focused on broadband, as one part of their service, since 2015. Appointed as an approved installer by the Connecting Devon and Somerset Project. Has service level agreements in place and they are available to view on their website www.voneus.com
Briefly the plan is to install the necessary equipment to create a network covering the whole village, with the potential to include surrounding villages and hamlets too. Each house will have a CE radio receiver on the outside wall in line of sight with the sector antenna, a wired connection inside the house appropriate to the thickness of walls and a 4 point wireless router
